Katharine Hepburn's Summer Home - Fenwick

Katharine Hepburn (1907-2003)

One of America's most accomplished actresses; winner of four Academy Awards
(Inducted 1994)

Katherine Hepburn’s house was built in 1939 after the Hurricane of ‘38 leveled the original shingle-style home built by Hepburn’s parents in 1912. Katharine Hepburn, one of the most accomplished and celebrated actresses of the 20th century, never forgot the Connecticut roots that continually pulled her back home. Even as she gained fame and fortune in Hollywood, she regularly returned to her family’s retreat, Fenwick in Old Saybrook, a place she called “paradise.” She lived at the house until her death in 2003 at the age of 96.  Fenwick is located at 10 Mohegan Avenue in Old Saybrook.
