Margo Rose (1903-1997)
Artist, teacher, performer and “grande dame” of the American Puppet Theater (Inducted 1997)
With her husband Rufus, Margo Rose established a home/studio at 24 Avery Lane in Waterford; in that venue, they worked and promoted puppetry. Together with her husband, Rufus, she brought 1950s TV icon Howdy Doody to life. The Roses were also instrumental in establishing the Eugene O’Neill Memorial Theater and the National Theater of the Deaf as well as the Connecticut Chapter of Puppeteers of America. The studio is located at 24 Avery Lane in Waterford.
