Honored by Lisa Wilson-Foley, her daughter

Rita Marie Wilson was born on March 30, 1931 and was ahead of her time—she was a sportswoman and loved science. The eldest of two daughters and born into an Irish Catholic family of modest means, Rita married a handsome sailor and had five children. However, the fairytale life she had imagined turned difficult and Rita had to become the breadwinner of her family as well as the caretaker of her large brood. She persevered, working first at Sears and then at The Traveler’s (where she retired after 30 years).

Rita is the embodiment of a hard worker. She doted on her family and her church even while working full-time. She gave herself fully to both her family and her community. Her children and many grandchildren continue to surround her as she enters her eighth decade.
