“In 2015, less than one-third working women demonstrated a basic level of financial literacy, a percentage significantly lower than that of working men—and troubling in that such literacy is an important predictor of financial behaviors related to debt, financial fragility, and retirement planning.” -TIAA INstitute Report
Financial stability is a fundamental life skill. Yet according to research women who make up almost 51% of the population fall behind in men in financial confidence and literacy.
High school and college girls will explore the stories of the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame Inductees who were able to build financial security. The young women will leave with a better understanding of their past, its connection to the present, and ways to take an active role in shaping their future. Each attendee will participate in virtual interactive workshops presented by contemporary financial role models from various financial institutions.
