Eileen Kraus Scholarship Awardee 2024
We are pleased to announce this year’s Eileen Kraus Scholarship Awardee, Yasmeen Galal. Yasmeen’s highlighted Jennifer Lawton, digital disruptor and pioneer recognized for her influential role in technology and entrepreneurship, notably as the former CEO of MakerBot, where she significantly advanced the field of 3D printing.
Yasmeen is a determined leader dedicated to bridging the gap between technology and policy. She recently graduated from Woodland Regional High School, where she served as Student Body Vice President, captain of the Math Team, and captain of the Tennis Team. Outside of school, Yasmeen is incredibly involved in various leadership and volunteer activities. Yasmeen, as Lead Programmer for her robotics team, successfully raised $21,000 for the team and helped the team achieve a ranking in the top 1% worldwide. As Student Representative for the Connecticut Board of Education, she represents 500,000 students with decision-makers. She also served as President of Connecticut’s Student Council for two years. Additionally, Yasmeen is a U.S. Senate Youth Delegate, Coca-Cola Scholar, 2023 Disney Dreamer, Yale Bassett Fellow, and NCWIT National Aspirations in Computing Winner. This fall, Yasmeen will be studying Computer Science and Government at Harvard University.
